A Message from
Warren E. Buffett

Chairman's perspective on Berkshire Hathaway's philosophy, values, and commitment to shareholder value.

Chairman's Letter to Shareholders

Our goal is to maximize Berkshire's intrinsic value per share. We do this in two ways: the first is by improving the earnings of our many wholly-owned operating businesses—both organically and through acquisitions. The second is by investing in the productive assets of other good businesses, primarily using our insurance subsidiaries' float.

We believe that our approach—with its emphasis on long-term thinking, decentralized management, and shareholder alignment—has served Berkshire well over decades.

Fraudulent Claims Advisory

Our Approach

Principles That Guide Us

Our management approach emphasizes decentralization, trust, and long-term thinking.

Decentralized Management

We trust our subsidiary managers to run their businesses with the same entrepreneurial spirit they would apply if they owned 100% of the company.

Long-Term Focus

We think in decades, not quarters. Our approach prioritizes sustainable value creation over short-term profits.

Owner Orientation

We treat shareholders as partners. Our goal is to maximize intrinsic value per share, aligning management incentives with owner interests.
